REPLAY is a prime example of why sometimes it’s better to just pick one idea to focus on and commit to that decision.
While I do think that this first draft would make Christopher Nolan cream his jeans and high school boys would call this their favourite movie if he developed it into a feature, it’s also completely lacking in substance. And I really am not sure how to add the substance. It’s all gimmick right now.
Worse yet, the gimmick is strikingly close to the one STUPOR, which makes me think that this one’s a prime candidate to be abandoned. Please, if you have any ideas on how to add character motivations and clearer rules of the world, I’m all ears because I want Chris Nolan to cream his jeans!
All Chris Nolan jokes aside, I do hate this draft simply because it seems like a budget rip-off of TENET, so I’m ready to abandon it, but I made a promise to share what I’m doing and that regrettably includes this half-baked, very bad, gimmicky draft below.
What I need to know before draft 2:
Should I even do a draft 2? Like, the only thing I really like about this is the “You’re not really here.” But the payoff for it is lame as hell.
Seriously, I want to abandon this so bad. But if you think developing this is worthy of my time, please make the case for it.
Shoutout to Memento, Clockwatchers and the trailer for TENET.
